Over time, detergent can congeal in the components and deteriorate the performance of your Dishmaster® M2000. This is especially likely if your detergent-to-water ratio is mixed stronger than recommended (see proper mixing instructions above).
Each time you refill your detergent tank it is a good idea to perform a short, simple maintenance routine.
- Unscrew the detergent tank lid.
- Rinse the detergent tank to remove any remaining detergent solution.
- Fill the tank with hot water.
- Replace the detergent tank lid on the detergent tank.
- Release the tube clamp.
- Make sure the clear plastic detergent tube is not crimped and that nothing is sitting on it to pinch off the water flow.
- Lift the spray wand and grip it by the handle.
- Point the brush downward into the sink.
- Pull up on the black knob at the base of the spout to redirect the water flow to the brush.
- Press the red button on the handle. Continue to press the button and spray the water into the sink for a few minutes. This will flush congealed detergent from the components.
- Release the red button.
- Move the valve handle to the off position.
- Replace the spray wand into the hose guide.
- Fill the tank per the “Fill the Detergent Tank” section above.
If your Dishmaster M2000 does not dispense suds properly, follow this simple procedure. It takes only a few minutes and no tools are required. Recheck the performance after each step. You may not need to perform every step. If these procedures do not solve the problem, contact Dishmaster Customer Service.
- Make sure the clamp on the clear plastic detergent tube is open.
- Make sure the clear plastic detergent tube is not crimped and that nothing is sitting on it to pinch off the water flow.
- Check the detergent solution.
- If mixed properly it should not appear much, if any, thicker than water.
- Is there a thick gummy solution in the bottom of the tank? If so, then the solution is mixed too strongly. Follow the instructions in the “Refilling the Detergent Tank” section.
- Check the small hole in the bottom of the Tank Vent Tube.
- If it is clogged, open it with a toothpick or other small object.
- Rinse the hole and the tube to remove congealed detergent.
- For the following steps you will need a helper.
- Close the detergent tube clamp on the clear plastic detergent tube.
- Unscrew the detergent tank lid.
- Place the detergent tank lid, with tubes attached, in the sink.
- Turn the lid so the two small holes in the ‘U’ shaped tube face downward.
If the tube is not long enough, you may also empty out your detergent tank and backflush into it.
- Remove the brush from the Dishmaster wand.
- Turn on the water and adjust the temperature to a setting as warm as you are comfortable with.
Caution: using only HOT water may cause personal injury.
- Adjust the water flow to a small stream
- Place the end of the wand in the palm of your free hand to seal off the water flow.
- Press the red button.
- Have your helper pull up on the diverter knob. This will force water back through the detergent line and into the detergent reservoir, thus flushing out any foreign matter or congealed detergent. If water does not fill the reservoir, have your helper open the valve only slightly more until the water does come out the vent tube. Back-flushing is most effective when you make the water pressure as high as possible without spraying yourself.
- Have your helper close the valve to stop the water flow.
