Over time, detergent can congeal in the components and deteriorate the performance of your Dishmaster® M76. This is especially likely if your detergent to water ratio is mixed stronger than recommended (see proper mixing instructions above). Each time you refill your detergent tank it is a good idea to perform a short, simple maintenance routine.
- Remove the detergent tank lid.
- Fill the tank with hot water.
- Turn on the water.
- Lift the spray wand and grip it by the handle.
- Point the brush downward into the sink.
- Pull up on the black knob at the base of the spout to redirect the water flow to the brush.
- Press the red button on the handle. Continue to press the button and spray the water into the sink for a few minutes. This will flush congealed detergent from the components.
- Release the red button.
- Turn off the water.
- Replace the spray wand into the holder.
- Fill the tank per the “Fill the Detergent Tank” section above.
If your Dishmaster® M76 does not dispense suds properly, follow these procedures. If these procedures do not solve the problem, contact Dishmaster® Customer Service.
- Check the detergent solution. If mixed properly it should not appear much, if any, thicker than water. Is there a thick gummy solution in the bottom of the tank? If so, wash out the detergent tank, the solution is mixed too strongly. If the detergent tank must be removed for cleaning, see step three.
- You will need a helper. This procedure will cause water to backfill into the detergent tank. The tank will likely overrun. Be prepared with towels to catch the water. To perform this procedure with the detergent tank removed, see step three.
- Remove the brush from the Dishmaster® wand.
- Turn on the water and adjust the temperature to a setting as warm as you are comfortable with.
Caution: using only HOT water may cause personal injury.
- Adjust the water flow to a small stream.
- Press the end of the wand into the palm of your free hand to seal off the water flow.
- Press the red button.
- Have your helper pull up on the diverter knob. This will force water back through the detergent line and into the detergent reservoir, thus flushing out any foreign matter or congealed detergent. If water does not fill into the reservoir, have your helper open the valves only slightly more until the water does come out of the vent tube into the tank. Back-flushing is most effective when you make the water flow is as high as possible without spraying yourself.
- Have your helper continue to slowly open the water valves as far as possible without the water pushing the end of the wand out of your hand and causing you to be sprayed.
- Have your helper close the valve to stop the water flow.
- If it becomes necessary to remove the detergent tank for cleaning, plug your sink drain(s) so that no small parts will go down the drain if you drop them.
- Use a Philips screwdriver to remove the screws from the faucet handles.
- Remove the handles from the faucet.
- Remove the knurled/notched cover retaining rings.
- Remove the decorative faceplate.
- Slide the hose clip (with hose) from the chrome cover.
- Remove the chrome cover.
- Detach the clear plastic tube from the projection on the front of the detergent tank.
- Remove the detergent tank from the faucet by lifting upward.
- Rinse the detergent tank clean making sure that the hole in the projection where the plastic hose was attached and the hole in the vent tube (standing inside the tank) are cleared.
- Reinstall the detergent tank and plastic tube.
- Reinstall the chrome cover. If you are unsure of the order in which to put the faucet back together, please see this illustration for reference.
- Reinstall the hose clip (with hose) onto the chrome cover.
- Reinstall the decorative faceplate.
- Reinstall the knurled/notched cover retaining rings that were behind the handles. The notches face out.
- Slightly engage the knurl on the handle with the knurl on the valve stem and turn clockwise until the valve is just snug. (counter-clockwise for cold side)
- Remove the handle.
- Position the handle in front of the stem at the 7 o’clock position. (5 o’clock for cold side)
- Reinstall the handle by fully engaging the knurls.
- Reinstall the screw.
